Waste Disposal Process

Picking it up is one thing, but what sets us apart is what we do with your waste afterwards. First, we take it to a processing facility, commonly called a Resource Recovery Centre (RRC) or Material Recovery Facility (MRF). It’s here that your waste is sorted out into piles of like materials, using both automated and manual processes. Once that’s done, they’re packaged for transportation to the next phase – recyclable items are sent to a recycling centre, while all non-recyclable items or general waste are disposed to landfill.

As Australia undertakes a waste-management action plan to achieve a zero waste target by 2030, it’s more and more vital that we sort out our waste in the most resourceful ways available, so that we can do things like generating Green Electricity from unrecyclable waste by harnessing the biogas that the breaking down of landfill creates (a combination of methane and carbon dioxide).
